The core issue is whether or not anyone can or should presume to speak for all American LGBTQ voters, or any other group for that matter. Just because you and Jeff don’t like him for the reasons outlined, it doesn’t follow that every single American LGBTQ voter feels the same anymore than it follows that because there are homophobes out there for whom his sexuality is an issue it follows that all straight voters feel the same, or even most for that matter. Buttigieg’s journey is his own. He’s running to be president of the United States, not of the American LGBTQ community. I’m not saying there aren’t good reasons to support another candidate over Buttigieg. It’s just that this isn’t one of them.
